Chapter 20  : Confronting the White Lotus and Her Mother

Su Wan had made this decision secretly. She nodded and said, “Fei’er, you too. You must be happy! I can be your bridesmaid.”

Lin Fei’er pushed Su Wan and teased, “I don’t want you as my bridesmaid. You’re so pretty, you’ll steal my limelight.”

Su Wan laughed as she took a cushion from the couch and tossed it at Lin Fei’er. Lin Fei’er lunged at her and tickled her armpit, causing Su Wan to beg for mercy.

Su Wan and Lin Fei’er kept laughing for half a day. Then, Lin Fei’er brought Su Wan to the shop to get a new phone after knowing that she had lost her purse and damaged her phone.

That night, both the girls talked about their concerns and worries. Lin Fei’er strongly believed that there was no need to worry in advance and that Su Wan should talk to her grandfather first instead of worrying too much about Sheng Yuan Group.

Su Wan recalled how her grandfather had reprimanded her and her heart sank. Tomorrow, she would go to Jing Yuan again. Hopefully, things would not be as terrible as she’d imagined.

After tossing and turning restlessly for the entire night, Su Wan looked into the mirror the next morning and saw her faint dark eye circles. However, she held strongly to her principle of doing her best no matter how bad she was, so Su Wan put on some light makeup before going out.

Lin Fei’er wanted to send her there but something related to her online business cropped up unexpectedly, so Su Wan hailed a taxi to Jing Yuan.

Unlike yesterday, when Su Wan arrived at the Cloud Shadow Villa this time, the security guard immediately recognized her and allowed her to enter.

Su Wan walked slowly to Jing Yuan. This time around, the silver Pagani was not there. However, the presence of cherry red Cayenne was still eye-catching.

Su Wan’s face darkened slightly. She didn’t expect her cousin sister to be there. Today, she came to look for grandfather to talk to him in private but it looked like her wish could not be fulfilled.

She walked past the hallway to the main hall and saw Su Yurou making tea.

As if sensing Su Wan’s gaze, Su Yurou looked up and saw Su Wan. Her hand trembled and almost spilled the tea. However, she composed herself very quickly and her eyes were filled with a pleasant surprise.

“Wan, you’re home!’ Su Yurou walked over to Su Wan while beaming happily and exclaiming coyly, “You’re an adult now. Why did you act rashly and not come home yesterday? Zihang and I were very worried about you.”

Su Wan’s eyes were cold. She could sense the fakeness of Su Yurou’s smile. “I’m not Gu Zihang. You’ve found the wrong person to dote on.”

If they were really worried about her, they would have chased after her. They had her phone number and yet, they did not bother to call her to ask if she was alright.

Su Yurou had not expected Su Wan to say such words. Her face froze. Then, she clutched her chest pathetically while tears filled the corners of her eyes.

“Wan, do you still hate me and Zihang? Zihang and I truly love one another. We can’t lose each other. Although this may sound selfish, but as your sister, I still wish to get your blessings.”

How could such a shameless person exist in this world?

This was Su Wan’s first time meeting a woman whose expression changed as quickly as flipping the pages of a book. She was smiling the last second and crying this second. It was a shame she was not an actress. If she were, she might even win an Oscar!

Su Wan walked past Su Yurou in detest and without turning her head, replied, “I’ve come to look for grandfather today. I didn’t expect to see you here. Now that Gu Zihang is not here, please don’t waste your acting talent on me.”

Hearing her sarcasm, a sense of hostility flashed through Su Yurou’s eyes. She bit her lip and chased up to Su Wan.

“Grandfather just left for the office. You may talk to me if there’s anything. Wan, I think you have a deep misunderstanding regarding me and Zihang. I need to explain to you.”

Su Wan casted a sidelong glance at Su Yurou. “You don’t have to explain. Since Grandfather is out, I’ll wait for him in my room. Su Yurou, don’t you feel uncomfortable being in someone else’s house?”

“You’re ill-mannered! Did your parents teach you to call your elder sister by her name?”

A cold and stern voice came from upstairs. Su Wan looked up and saw her eldest aunt, Shen Wei, who was still in her pajamas. She had obviously just woken up.

Why was eldest aunt in Jing Yuan too? She was even wearing pajamas—was she staying here?

When she associated Su Yurou and the cherry red Cayenne, a horrible guess arose in Su Wan’s heart…

Su Yurou saw Su Wan’s silence and thought she had been shocked by her mother’s aura. She smilingly went up the staircase and clung on to Shen Wei’s arm.

“Mom, how can you criticize Little Sis like this? Second Uncle and Aunt are no longer around. It’s not unusual for Wan to turn ill-mannered since she had no parents to teach her now. However, when Second Uncle and Aunty were alive, Wan wasn’t very well-behaved either.”

Su Wan, who was in deep thought, heard what Su Yurou said and was furious. Her heart and lungs felt blocked. How could Su Yurou use such a sweet voice to spit out such vicious words?

Shen Wei was overjoyed listening to Su Yurou’s words. She pointed at Su Wan and laughed loudly.

Su Wan slowly raised her head and looked at the pair of mother and daughter who were swollen with inordinate arrogance.

Su Wan mocked, “Aunty, is this the good daughter you’ve brought up? A girl who easily ridicules relatives who have passed away?”

Shen Wei’s lips trembled. She hit the staircase railing and screamed, “Su Wan! You’re a person who brings bad luck to the family. Stop talking too much and stop being a trouble maker!”

Su Wan laughed sarcastically while she walked up the stairs. “Oh, I’ve forgotten, your daughter also has the ability to steal someone else’s fiancé.”

Shen Wei raised her eyebrows in anger after being hit on her sore spot. “I’ve never seen someone younger this ill-mannered. Today, I shall teach you a lesson!”

What happened between Su Yurou and Gu Zihang was a disgrace to the family.

Shen Wei raised her hand and was about to slap Su Wan’s left cheek, but Su Wan managed to dodge and Shen Wei fell to the ground.

Shen Wei stared at Su Wan with enmity while massaging her injured buttocks. She had never expected to feel such pain after a fall.

 “Mom!”

Su Yurou shrieked and helped Shen Wei up from the ground while she glared at Su Wan angrily.

“You can hate me but why did you argue with my mom? If my mom is injured, will your conscience be clear?”

Double standards was just the perfect phrase to describe Su Yurou and her mother.

Su Wan darted a look at Su Yurou in disdain. “Please be reasonable. You mean I should endure that slap or maybe offer my right cheek for her to slap? Hah, this is the first time I hear of this.”

Su Yurou was silent for a while, then she forcibly defended herself in dissatisfaction.

“But you still can’t argue with your elders! She is your aunt!”

Su Wan ignored the unreasonable Su Yurou and laughed coldly when she walked past them toward her own room.

She had not been home for three years. Would there be changes in her room? However, in Jing Yuan, there would be people cleaning every day. She bet her room would still be the same as before she went abroad.

Beyond Su Wan’s expectations, Su Yurou let go of Shen Wei and dashed toward her.
