Chapter 1 : Are you planning to hold me like this forever?
Yigol Novak, riding his tricycle, had just returned from delivering a package, in a great mood.
Though it’s a busy job, the more deliveries he made, the more he earned.
Passing a bridge, Yigol thought, “Once over this bridge, another half hour and I’ll be home.”
“Huh?”
Yigol suddenly braked hard and looked confusedly at the girl on the bridge.
He had seen her walking this bridge earlier, and didn’t pay too much attention then. But now, the girl was sitting outside the railing, in danger of falling at any moment.
“Is she trying to kill herself?” Yigol hesitated, parked his tricycle quietly, and started walking towards the girl.
If he was to ignore this, it would prick his conscience.
The girl seemed lost in thoughts and didn’t notice Yigol’s approach. Once he got close, Yigol lunged at her, wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her over to a safe spot.
Fearing she might resist, Yigol continued to hold her hand tightly, “Listen to me, I’m a delivery guy, not a bad person. Don’t move, it’s very dangerous here.”
“You’re so young, don’t think of ending your life. Everyone faces setbacks.”
“Where I live, there’s been a spree of robberies lately. I’ve had to carry important documents with me all the time. Even as someone who’s single, I think I’ll probably die alone.”
“You never know whether tomorrow or an accident will come first, I live each day repaying old debts. It’s like the period a woman has for a couple of days every month. Despite the bitterness of life, I’ve never thought of dying.”
“Living is tough, why are you so desperate?”
“If there’s anything you’re upset about, you can talk to me. Even if I can’t help, I can always be your emotional dump.”
“You can also hit or scold me. As long as it can help you vent your feelings so you won’t take your life.”
“There are many people in this world who are living harder lives than us, and they’re all trying their best to survive. So, you mustn’t surrender.”
Yigol said all the encouraging words he could think of until he ran out of words.
Listening to his incessant ramble, and seeing her restrained hands, Suri Drew felt bemused.
She was indeed upset, that’s why she came here to unwind, enjoying the refreshing air on the bridge.
Just as she was pondering, she was suddenly embraced, and fell from the railing with this man.
She had just thought about breaking free when this man started his uninterrupted chatter.
Only then did she realize that he is a Samaritan, not a rogue.
Listening to this delivery man’s earnest advice, Suri Drew chuckled. This delivery man is a rather interesting fellow.
Dying alone?
Interesting.
Seeing no response from the girl or any struggle, Yigol felt even more worried. “Miss, could you please respond? If you promise me that you won’t harm yourself, I’ll let go of you. What worries me is if you die in front of me, I’ll feel guilty for the rest of my life.”
“So, are you planning to hold onto me forever?” Suri Drew asked with a laugh.
“Huh?” Yigol was completely thrown off.
“I…I’ll let go of you now, but… you absolutely must not jump, understand?” Yigol slowly released his hold, but his hands still hovered in a protective stance around Suri Drew.
Suri Drew moved a bit, and the next second, Yigol suddenly held her tight again.
Suri Drew shrieked, trying to struggle a few times, secretly thinking, “Is this man addicted to holding me? Is he an addict?”
“Don’t move recklessly. I’m still worried. So let’s do this, I’ll carry you over to a safer place before releasing you. It’s too dangerous here.”
Suri Drew was left bemused and speechless.
“Alright, you can now be released.” After carrying Suri Drew to a spot 20-30 meters away from the bridge, Yigol finally let her go.
Even after letting go, he found it hard to let go emotionally, “Miss, you need to know that I won’t stand by and let you end your life today.”
“I will call the police immediately. Until then, you aren’t going anywhere. You can’t escape because I can run really fast. I even won a marathon once.”
Suri Drew moved a little, then turned to look at Yigol.
He was a bit taller than her, in good shape, not fat or thin. Dressed in a delivery uniform, his clothes inside were clean. He was just about to take out his phone.
“Don’t call the police. It was a misunderstanding.” Suri Drew stopped him.
“I won’t buy….” Yigol turned to look at the girl. Her face was soft and tender, a bit pale but that didn’t cover up her stunning looks.
She was, possibly, the most beautiful girl he had seen in his life.
Due to his profession, Yigol saw a lot of beautiful women, but never anyone as beautiful as her.
“Am I very beautiful?” Suri Drew asked with a smile, noticing his regard.
Only then did she get a good look at Yigol’s face. Surprisingly, he was quite handsome.
He looked young, probably much younger than her.
But he was clean and radiating positivity.
“Yeah, you’re pretty…Sorry, I apologize.” Realizing his slip, Yigol quickly looked away.
It seemed as though he was love struck – his heart was racing.
“Are you thinking about something inappropriate?”
Yigol’s heartbeat quickened after being asked, he didn’t dare to look up and stammered, “I’m sorry, I…Goodbye.”
The only thing he could think of now was to leave as quickly as possible.
“If you leave, I’ll jump into the river,” Suri Drew said.
“What? You?” YiGol was flabbergasted. Now, he was between a rock and a hard place.
Caught in his dilemma, the girl suddenly grabbed his hand and said in a soft voice, “Brother, why don’t… you just marry me?”
Yigol was caught off guard, he felt as if he had been struck by lightning – his heart was pounding.
“No, no, we’ve just met, how can we…,” Yigol wanted to refuse instinctively. He wanted to pull his hand back, but he was too fond of her warm touch.
“I am Suri Drew, what’s your name?”
“Yigol Novak.”
“Great, we’ve already introduced ourselves. We’ll get to know each other eventually.”
“But, but…”
“Do you think I’m not a match for you?”
“No, no.”
“Then why don’t you want to marry me?”
“We…we haven’t even dated…it’s too sudden.”
“No worries. We can get married first and date later. I have all the necessary paperwork. Do you also have them? Let’s go register for marriage.”
“You….you’re so amazing, there must be a lot of people who like you, I….”
“They’re interested in money, not me. But you’re different.”
“But….”
“Why all the fuss? Are you a man? Can you please be decisive?”
