Chapter 6

“Nan Zhi, you’re finally here. I thought you would never come back again.”

“I heard that your legs were broken. Can you still feel anything?”

“Did Nan Qiao pull you over to block the flower pot?”

“Nan Qiao is really good at using you as a meat shield.”

Nan Qiao listened to the people in the classroom accuse her.

Now, Nan Qiao understood something. Those who believed in you would believe you even if you didn’t say anything. However, those who didn’t believe in you wouldn’t believe you no matter what you said.

It was useless to explain herself.

Seeing that Nan Qiao had returned, Nan Zhi’s face revealed a smile that was as fresh as a lily.

“Everyone, please don’t crowd around me. Thank you for your concern, but regardless of the situation at that time, I did it willingly. Please don’t spread rumors as you’re making things difficult for my sister.”

However, Nan Zhi did not refute the part about Nan Qiao using her as a meat shield.

In the hearts of the students, it became a tacit agreement.

As expected, it was Nan Qiao who did it. Nan Qiao was too heartless.

Everyone subconsciously moved away from Nan Qiao.

“Nan Zhi, you’re so brave to still come to school, and you’re even speaking up for Nan Qiao.”

The female classmates kept sucking up to Nan Zhi.

Nan Zhi was the young lady of the Nan family. Compared to Nan Qiao, the difference was like heaven and earth.

Everyone was a sensible person. They had been classmates for almost two years, so they had already understood the family situation of each family.

Nan Zhi had always come to school with her Third Brother, Nan Hao. She was also chauffeured around in a car, making everyone envious.

Nan Qiao on the other hand, had to walk to school by herself every day and was thus late most of the time. When she arrived this morning, she was even drenched in sweat. Hence, no one wanted to be her deskmate.

Moreover, Nan Zhi was a top student, while Nan Qiao was only in the middle of the rankings.

Anyone with a discerning eye would know who to befriend.

Nan Qiao then returned to her seat and lay down to rest. She was still very weak.

However, Nan Zhi did not plan to let her off just like that.

Her acted pitiful as her hands guided the wheelchair to Nan Qiao’s seat.

Nan Zhi’s eyes were clear and pure as she asked, “Sister, where did you go this morning? Why didn’t I see you when I came?”

Nan Qiao lay sickly on the table and didn’t want to talk to her.

Other people would be silent for a long time after their legs were broken, but she was acting pitiful everywhere, as if she was afraid that others would not know that her legs were broken.

Seeing that Nan Qiao did not answer Nan Zhi. The students in the classroom looked at each other, covering their mouths and whispering.

This was the effect Nan Zhi wanted. The corners of her lips curled up as she said sincerely, “Dad sent me here this morning. The teacher said that you were late and Dad was very angry. They should still be in the office. Why don’t you go to the office and apologize to Dad and the teacher?”

The classmate who was close to Nan Zhi, Qiuqiu could not hold it in anymore.

“Nan Zhi, you’re too kind. She’s already treated you like that and you still care about her. Moreover, she doesn’t know what’s good for her at all. If it were me, I wouldn’t care about her anymore.”

Nan Zhi turned back and frowned, her nose slightly retracted. “Qiuqiu, how can you say that? She’s my sister. Isn’t it only right for me to take care of my sister?”

Qiuqiu felt indignant. “What? It’s always the elder sister who takes care of the younger sister. How can a younger sister be the one who takes care of the elder sister? How can someone like her be called an elder sister?”

Nan Qiao was a little exhausted and just wanted to take a good rest. Unexpectedly, they didn’t think that it was enough to talk about her from afar, and even ran to her seat to continue tormenting her. Unable to withstand the noise, Nan Qiao shouted, “So noisy!”

“Nan Qiao, do you have a conscience? Zhi Zhi kindly reminded you, but you actually said that it’s noisy!” Qiuqiu was furious. She had never seen such a shameless person. “Zhi Zhi, let’s go. Ignore her! Ungrateful b*tch!”

A group of people followed closely behind.

Qiuqiu pushed the wheelchair around to leave, but Nan Zhi actually started crying.

Hearing the sobs, everyone hurriedly comforted Nan Zhi.

“Don’t cry, don’t cry. Let’s not talk to her.”

“She doesn’t know what’s good for her. Don’t cry.”

“It’s all because of Nan Qiao. She’s like a scourge. She can always find a way to make Zhi Zhi cry. She’s so annoying!”

Nan Qiao propped herself up on the table and glared angrily in Nan Zhi’s direction, her face frosty.

“Did I scold her? What’s she got to cry about?”

“That’s because…” Someone defended Nan Zhi, but she could not finish her words.

It seemed that Nan Qiao had only said that it was noisy and did not blame Nan Zhi at all, right?

Nan Qiao couldn’t stand the atmosphere and left the classroom.

When she was with Nan Zhi, the air became oppressive. She was worried that she would not be able to control her temper and go up to strangle Nan Zhi to death.

No. 3 High School’s teaching building was not separated from the teachers’ building. The form teacher’s office was only three classrooms away.

When Nan Qiao came out, she bumped into Nan Kang and the form teacher talking in the corridor.

“Then I’ll be entrusting our Zhi Zhi to the Teacher. If anyone bullies her, I’ll have to trouble Teacher to take care of her.” Nan Kang’s attitude seemed to be pious.

The form teacher replied with a smile. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on Nan Zhi and definitely won’t let her be bullied. However, I’ll have to trouble you to discipline Nan Qiao.”

At the mention of Nan Qiao, Nan Kang’s expression changed. He glared fiercely. “Don’t worry. If that wretched girl does anything bad in school, call me. I’ll deal with her!”

As soon as he finished speaking, he saw Nan Qiao who had been standing beside him for a long time and had overheard their conversation.

Nan Kang and the homeroom teacher felt a little guilty at the same time, but Nan Kang took the initiative.

“Where did you go this morning? You were actually late. Your teacher said you ran away when you saw him. You’re clearly skipping class now? How unruly.”

Nan Kang did not lower his voice. The second class of the morning had just ended, so according to the school rules, there would be a twenty minute break. Hence, there were many students passing by. When everyone heard that someone was being reprimanded, they quickly came out to take a look.

Nan Kang didn’t care about Nan Qiao at all and scolded her in public.

Nan Qiao looked at him coldly, her dark eyes calm.

“I’m talking to you. What kind of disobedient look is that?” Nan Kang felt that his dignity had been provoked and immediately remembered what had happened last night. He raised his hand and was about to slap Nan Qiao again.

At the same time, a classmate suddenly walked over from behind Nan Kang.

His sudden appearance made Nan Kang unable to stop in time and almost hit him.

“Sir, please make way.” Huo Yichen seemed to be carrying his homework to the teacher’s office. With a huge stack of exercise books in his hand, he passed between Nan Kang and Nan Qiao.

Nan Kang wanted to scold him, but he swallowed his words out of pride.

Nan Qiao looked at Huo Yichen. When he was young, Huo Yichen always had a childish air about him. He wore a blue school uniform and washed-out sneakers. His face was cold and he looked at Nan Qiao as if they had never met before.

He walked past them coldly and entered the office.
