Chapter 361  : I like watching you

First floor of the hospital

Mo Xiuchen and Luo Haofeng stand in the lobby, facing the direction of the elevator.

The elevator doors open, and Gu Kai and Wen Ran emerge together. Seeing him, Wen Ran’s gaze flickers.

Across a few meters, Mo Xiuchen’s eyes also narrow abruptly, and his peripheral vision falls on Gu Kai behind Wen Ran, from whose expression he understands.

“Xiuchen, how come your dinner ended so early? I thought I would have to wait another hour.”

Wen Ran cheerfully winds her arm around his, hiding all her sadness. There is a beautiful smile in her eyes as she looks at him.

“Ah Feng, don’t you want to go up and check on the patient since you’re here?”

Gu Kai walks behind Wen Ran, sweeping his gaze over Mo Xiuchen to Luo Haofeng. It’s been a while since he last visited the hospital.

Luo Haofeng glances at the elevator and hooks up the corner of his mouth lightly: “No, it’s late, and not visiting hours. I’ll come another day when I’m free.”

“Xiuchen, let’s go home.”

Normally, Wen Ran would undoubtedly tease Luo Haofeng a bit. His visit to see a patient here wouldn’t require visiting hours, hadn’t he often come at night before?

But today, she’s not in the mood.

Her gaze stays fixed on Mo Xiuchen. From the moment the elevator doors opened, she has not taken her eyes off him.

“All right!”

Mo Xiuchen smiles in agreement. He appears no different from usual, his smile still warm and captivating. Yet, Wen Ran feels that his smile lacks its usual warmth.

This sense of unease makes her heart ache again.

“You all go home, and drive carefully. Ah Kai, could you give me a lift? My car is still at the hotel.”

Luo Haofeng says mildly with an unusually serious expression.

“You didn’t drive?”

Gu Kai frowns slightly, then quickly understanding, he readily agrees: “No problem, we can grab a late-night snack along the way.”

The four split into two groups: Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen head home, while Gu Kai takes Luo Haofeng to his car at the hotel.

On the ride home, Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen stay silent. She just quietly watches him. From the moment she fell in love with him, she loved every aspect of him.

Love and heartache interweave in her heart; one moment, love prevails, the next, the emotion of heartache floods back in, like a tug-of-war…

Mo Xiuchen drives attentively, occasionally glancing at the woman beside him. No matter when he looks over, her gaze is always gently on him.

This sensation makes him feel warm, content, and sympathetically apologetic.

He knows Ran Ran’s emotions must be in turmoil now, that she must feel upset. All these emotions are because of him.

“Ran Ran, if you’re tired, close your eyes and take a nap. I’ll wake you when we get home.”

Mo Xiuchen turns to glance at her and speaks softly.

“I’m not tired. I like watching you drive.”

Wen Ran smiles, and her eyes are full of gentle affection.

Mo Xiuchen’s hand on the steering wheel tightens abruptly. His just-turned face turns back to meet her tender, smiling eyes, and a surge rises in his heart.

In their marriage, he has always been the one actively demanding her emotional investment.

Requesting her to take the initiative.

Now, when Ran Ran proactively says she likes watching him drive, when she openly expresses her feelings for him, she is making it clear that she loves him, no matter what.

“Keep your eyes on the road, stop looking at me.”

Wen Ran suppresses her smile and pretends to scold him seriously.

Mo Xiuchen turns his head forward, focusing on the road ahead.

Wen Ran’s gaze alights on his hand clasping the steering wheel. She purses her lips and whispers, “You didn’t drink any alcohol at tonight’s dinner?”

“If I had drunk, would I be able to drive?”

Mo Xiuchen laughs lightly, answering nonchalantly.

“Hmm, that’s good. Drinking is harmful to health, and drunk-driving is a crime.”

Mo Xiuchen chuckles quietly but doesn’t respond.

Wen Ran takes the initiative to strike up a conversation. Soon, they’re home.

As her Aston drives into the garage and powers down, Mo Xiuchen unbuckles his seatbelt, turns towards her, and calls softly, “Ran Ran!”

Wen Ran, who is unfastening her own seatbelt, stalls at his voice.

Meeting his deep gaze, something in her heart trembles slightly as she lightly moistens her lips, “Let’s get out of the car first. If there’s anything you want to say, let’s talk about it upstairs after a shower.”

Mo Xiuchen nods, “Ok!”

Wen Ran offers him a smile, opening the car door to get out.

Hand in hand, they tread past the flower beds and down the stone path to the living room. Nanny Zhang is waiting in the living room, asking if they would like a late-night snack prepared.

Wen Ran replies ‘no need’ and tells Nanny Zhang to rest up. The pair then walk upstairs together.

Entering the room, Mo Xiuchen pulls Wen Ran to a stop.

The bright light from the chandelier illuminates the two of them. Within the breaths’ distance between Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen, each other’s breath can be heard.

Their eyes intertwine, their breaths intermingle!

The atmosphere in the room subtly shifts.

Wen Ran reflexively raises her toes. One hand is clutching his shirt while the other is held by him. She closes her eyes and initiates a kiss on his enticing lips.

“Xiuchen!”

“Ran Ran, Ran Ran!”

“Xiuchen, I love you.”

“I love you too, forever!”
