Xu Niannian walked to the office door and knocked.
A voice from inside responded, “Please come in.”
She opened the door and entered, noticing Chu Nanming seated on a small stool while a girl in a black dress occupied the main chair. The girl’s back was turned as she gazed out the French window at the cityscape.
The girl’s long hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her black dress, adorned with diamonds, sparkled like stars in the night sky.
Xu Niannian was puzzled. “Boss, why did you call me here?”
A sweet, familiar voice with a teasing edge replied, “I asked you to come.”
Xu Niannian’s eyes widened as the girl in the black dress turned around.
It was Qin Shuling.
If Qin Shuling had previously appeared as a delicate princess, now she looked every bit the mischievous little demoness.
Qin Shuling leaned back in her chair, resting her chin on one hand, and looked at Xu Niannian with a smile that didn’t reach her cold eyes.
“Student Xu Niannian, long time no see,” Qin Shuling greeted, her tone friendly but her smile icy.
Xu Niannian shivered slightly. “Why are you here?”
Qin Shuling raised an eyebrow and glanced at Chu Nanming.
On the table beside Chu Nanming was a black card.
Chu Nanming cleared his throat and said simply, “Miss Qin is now a sponsor of our CNM Club.”
Qin Shuling added with a smile, “To put it plainly, I’ve bought your club.”
Xu Niannian was stunned.
She knew Qin Shuling was wealthy, but she hadn’t anticipated her being so affluent!
The CNM Club was one of China’s top gaming clubs. It would likely cost two to three billion yuan to acquire.
Given that the CNM Club was highly profitable and Chu Nanming, the boss, wasn’t lacking in money, it seemed improbable that he would sell the club.
Of course, Chu Nanming had not wanted to sell. However, Qin Shuling, the notorious “Little Demoness” of the Qin family, had insisted. As the younger sister of the Qin family’s young master and head of their secret department, she was known for her ruthless methods. Chu Nanming couldn’t afford to cross her.
Xu Niannian’s face went pale as she clenched her fists. “What do you want?”
Qin Shuling maintained her pleasant demeanor, speaking as if she were a friendly neighbor. “You’re right. I’m wealthy and talented, but I can’t join CNM Team like you.”
She spread her hands in a gesture of helplessness. “So, I have no choice but to use my money to prevent you from joining CNM Team.”
With that, she took Xu Niannian’s membership file and tore it in half, letting the pieces fall to the floor.
Her smile widened.
Xu Niannian’s anger flared. “You can’t do this! You’re abusing your power to exact revenge! I earned my place in CNM Team through an interview, and the contract is signed. What right do you have to kick me out?”
Qin Shuling replied coolly, “Because I have money. And because you provoked me.”
Xu Niannian sneered, “You’re just jealous. You’re afraid I’ll compete with Gu Pei and win him back, right?”
Qin Shuling’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
She stood up, her leather shoes pressing down on the torn file as she walked away, her black skirt swaying with each step.
Qin Shuling stopped in front of Xu Niannian and abruptly reached out to grasp her neck, looking down at her with a scornful gaze.
“Do you think you’re worthy?”
Xu Niannian felt the grip tighten, the suffocation growing more intense. She struggled frantically, but she couldn’t break free from Qin Shuling’s slender hand.
It was only when Xu Niannian was on the brink of fainting from lack of oxygen that Qin Shuling released her, pushing her roughly away.
Xu Niannian collapsed to the ground, gasping for air, her eyes wide with fear.
Qin Shuling had nearly strangled her! The experience was terrifying.
Qin Shuling reached out her hand to Chu Nanming, who, trembling, handed her a tissue. She wiped her hands and tossed the tissue into the trash can.
“Get lost,” she said coolly.
Xu Niannian scrambled to her feet and fled the room.
As she left, Qin Shuling’s voice followed her like a sinister warning. “Stay away from my Brother Gu Pei.”
