Chapter 230 : The Clean Up
Lu Chi advanced toward Qin Jun, step by step, his chilling voice slicing through the tense air.
“Repaying one’s debts is only proper,” his thin lips parted slightly, words dripping with icy resolve. “If you lack the means, you can settle with your life.” Qin Jun’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“I’m the eldest young master of the Qin family. How could I be without funds for you?”
He continued to retreat cautiously while warning, “I must have picked the wrong check. I’ll write you one right away. There’s no need for any rash actions.”
“Write?” Lu Chi sneered at Qin Jun, his tone laced with contempt. “You didn’t grab the wrong check intentionally. You’re trying to play games with me!
Kidnapping the eldest daughter of the Gu family was strenuous work.
Abducting her and then handing over the wrong check is a provocation.”
“Provocation?” Qin Jun was taken aback. “It’s just a check. How is that provocation? Don’t turn a minor issue into something significant. You… Stay away!”
Lu Chi remained relentless, closing in on Qin Jun relentlessly. He seized Qin Jun’s collar, raising his leg menacingly.
A sharp pain shot through Qin Jun’s abdomen, contorting his face into a grotesque expression.
“You… How dare you strike me?”
“Not only can I strike you, but I can also end you,” Lu Chi sneered, tugging at Qin Jun’s collar. “100 million!”
“100 million?” Qin Jun, enduring the pain, was stunned. “You… Blackmail!”
“Open extortion,” Lu Chi declared, his expression steely. “Or I’ll summon the reporters and expose your role in Gu Qingcheng’s abduction.”
“Don’t forget that you’re also implicated in Gu Qingchengs kidnapping,” Qin Jun retorted in astonishment. “If I go down, you won’t escape either.”
“I’m just a pawn, inconsequential compared to the Qin family’s eldest young master,” Lu Chi replied coldly. “Young Master Qin, 100 million. Deliver it now, or I’ll knock you out and summon the reporters. Prepare for a public scandal.” Qin Jun had never anticipated being blackmailed so swiftly.
Why had the 2-million-yuan check he had personally written inexplicably lost a zero in this man’s possession?
And the underling who had kidnapped Gu Qingcheng was correct. As the Qin family’s eldest young master, the reporters discovering his presence here, with Gu Qingcheng bound and unconscious on the bed, would expose the kidnapping.
Should Huo Sicheng learn of his actions, he would undoubtedly seek his demise.
He couldn’t permit reporters to tarnish his reputation before even consummating his affair with Gu Qingcheng. Furthermore, his ailing father, Qin Chong, would react with fury upon learning of his deeds.
“I’ll give you one minute,” Lu Chi announced, sensing Qin Jun’s contemplation. “In a minute, whether you provide 100 million or not, I’ll knock you out and summon the reporters. Prepare for it to go viral.”
Qin Jun’s gaze shifted to Gu Qingcheng, lying on the bed. Her beauty stirred an eagerness within him.
In his eyes, Gu Qingcheng had been valueless before, but now she held the potential to secure him a fortune exceeding 100 million yuan.
He contemplated that if he were to consummate his affair with her, securing intimate photos, he could gain access to the inheritance coveted by Gu Tianhao. He recalled Gu Tianhao mentioning Gu Qingcheng’s inheritance being as vast as a nation. Thus, parting with 100 million for Gu Qingcheng’s inheritance and the pleasure of her company seemed an astute investment.
The more he mulled it over, the more he relished the notion. “Alright, 100 million, I’ll provide it.”
Only then did Lu Chi release his grip on Qin Jun. “Write.”
Qin Jun, however, had not brought a check with him, rendering him unable to personally supply the 100 million yuan. He had no alternative but to dispatch a household servant to procure a check from his father’s office, illicitly drawing upon the company’s public funds.
“We must await its arrival,” Qin Jun informed Lu Chi. “I can only present the check once it’s delivered.”
Lu Chi seated himself on the sofa, casting a sharp gaze upon Qin Jun. “Place your phone on the table and sit down.”
Realizing he was no match for Lu Chi, Qin Jun reluctantly complied.
His sole objective now was to expedite the delivery of the check, freeing himself from this irksome situation so he could revel in Gu Qingcheng without constraint.
Lu Chi crossed his legs and turned his gaze toward Gu Qingcheng, then back to Qin Jun, his eyes cutting like knives.
Qin Jun felt increasingly uneasy under the man’s penetrating scrutiny. He glanced at Gu Qingcheng’s slumbering form, which only exacerbated his restlessness.
“No,” Lu Chi interjected. “You can’t touch Gu Qingcheng until the money arrives.”
“Why are you so inflexible?” Qin Jun voiced his displeasure. “You heard me clearly on the phone earlier. Once I have the check, you’ll receive your payment immediately. I’m a man of my word!”
“Money on one hand, Gu Qingcheng on the other,” Lu Chi quipped, retrieving a pack of cigarettes from his pocket. “Without the money, you won’t lay a finger on her.”
Qin Jun seethed with frustration but remained wordless.
He could merely observe helplessly as Gu Qingcheng, whom he desired so ardently, lay just out of reach.
Time crept by slowly.
Qin Jun’s impatience became palpable, and he began to regret parting with 100 million yuan for this transaction. Yet, each time he gazed upon Gu Qingcheng, his longing rekindled, envisioning how this investment of 100 million might yield him not only Gu Qingcheng’s companionship but also the inheritance sought by Gu Tianhao.
Lu Chi discerned the fluctuation in Qin Jun’s demeanor and maintained a vigilant watch, maintaining his silence as he continued to smoke.
Qin Jun anxiously fidgeted, with each passing moment intensifying his regret. However, the moment someone knocked on the door, a sense of urgency overtook him.
Lu Chi directed his gaze at Qin Jun. “Open the door.”
“Me?” Qin Jun retorted indignantly. “Do you treat me like a servant? I am the eldest young master of the Qin family! Even if you gain 100 million today, it won’t… You won’t have a pleasant ending.”
“Is that so?” Lu Chi’s eyes gleamed with hostility as he locked eyes with Qin Jun, every word carrying a stinging edge. “Think carefully before you speak.”
Qin Jun promptly recognized his error and ceased his retort.
His 100 million yuan was not to be taken lightly, and he resolved to remember this face. After concluding his affairs with Gu Qingcheng, he would spend another 100 million to exact his revenge upon this opportunist.
Lu Chi observed Qin Jun as he opened the door, then watched as Qin Jun composed the 100 million yuan check.
“Ensure you count it accurately. Don’t neglect any zeros.”
Qin Jun, momentarily frozen while gripping the pen, met the man’s reproachful gaze.
The man treated him as if he were illiterate.
“Here’s your payment.”
Lu Chi accepted the check, giving it a cursory examination before looking back at Qin Jun.
“Young Master Qin, enjoy your time.”
With that, he turned and departed, closing the door with a resounding thud. Startled by the sound, Qin Jun withdrew his hand from Gu Qingcheng, eyeing the room to ensure they were alone.
“Gu Qingcheng, tonight, you’ll kneel before me, my slave!”
“Kneel as a slave? You think you’re worth it, Qin Jun?” A sinister and menacing voice reverberated through the room..
