Chapter 463 462   - Let Me Explain Point-of-View: Luell Rouge

  ———————————————————————————

Wow...that was really something, huh. I'd been watching the World Combat Championship using the broadcast spell that Abyss had been selling, and I had to admit, it was pretty entertaining.

And then, came the ending...many of the strongest people in this world got sealed away, thanks to a surprise, and brief, return by Samsara.

As a result of that, everyone who was following me were now convinced that we should attack Abyss and take over the nation...I don't know how or why, but for some reason, they're all convinced that I knew this would happen.

Heck, they even seem convinced that I orchestrated it! How the hell did they get to that conclusion!? Seriously, just what kind of incredible genius of a person am I in their heads!?

This is getting really out of hand, who knows what they'll do to me if they ever realize that everything they think I've done is just a misunderstanding on their part?

I don't wanna be a bandit leader anymore! I just wanna live comfortably and peacefully, damn it!

Abyss is probably an incredibly comfortable place to live in, this video broadcasting spell is proof of their advancements.

Hm, but if I remember right, their main spell creator and caster was Azyl Roake, who happened to be one of the ones who got sealed up by Samsara. Which means...there's a job opening!

Alright...time to change things up! Sorry, everyone, but I'm gonna have to betray you. Because I just can't keep up with this crap anymore...I'm out of the Divine Magic I'd siphoned off of the Rustlands' protective barriers, so there's not much I can do anyway.

And so, I'll head to Abyss and apply for a job! Wait, how do I do that? Eh, whatever, I'll just figure it out!

Oh, and when I said I'll betray my followers, I don't mean that I'm gonna sell them out or whatever...no, I'll just tell them that I'm infiltrating Abyss or whatever, and that it'll take years, possibly decades to accomplish my goal.

And I'll tell them to continue to blend in and live peacefully at the trade centers...I'll also say that I can't maintain the telepathic link between us anymore, and then sever it.

Hopefully, after enough time passes, they'll forget about me and settle into peaceful lives. Yeah, that'd be the ideal scenario at this point.

Yeah, I don't care how deep a hole I dug myself into with this, I've had enough and I'm bailing!

With Kuro Black out of the equation to keep the other nations in check, it's entirely possible that the current peace might be at risk...and I really want to avoid having to live through another major conflict in this world, I'm sick of all the violence.

If I'm not mistaken, the most powerful person in the world right now is probably Shiro Blanc. Still, Abyss is relatively secure, they've got some fairly powerful people still free on their side...Rai Rumel and that Jhin guy come to mind.

Idyll is probably fairly secure too, with the Earth Sage not getting sealed up. Liberty is probably the most vulnerable nation now, with both the Wind and Lightning Sages sealed away.magic

Anyway, I should get started on my plan already, before someone else claims the vacant spot left behind by Azyl Roake... ...

  ...

Okay...here I am, two days later. In Abyss. I already took care of calming down everyone who followed me and convinced them to lay low for the foreseeable future. I then severed the telepathic link permanently, which felt like a huge weight off my shoulders.

I then teleported to Abyss, and I'm currently approaching the castle, feeling extremely nervous. My stomach hurts and I'm kinda sweaty...I might have to admit that I was leading the bandits that have been causing trouble, and if I do, they might arrest or even execute me!

No, no, no, I'm overthinking this too much...having lost the people they relied on most to run this nation, they probably won't be too picky, and hopefully, show me some leniency.

Rai Rumel is a Reincarnator like me, so maybe I can appeal to that and find a common ground before negotiating...goddammit, even by thinking this through logically, I can't help but feel incredibly nervous about this!

"Can we help you, sir? Are you lost?" Inquired one of the guards, as I approached the front entrance.

Both the guards standing by the entrance were Vampires...just stay calm, I can do this...

"No, I, uh...ahem, I came here from one of the trade centers, and I'd like to request an audience with Mr Rai Rumel, if that's possible," I remarked with a smile.

  Okay, that wasn't too bad...

"Hm...may we ask why you want to meet him?"

"Yes, of course. I consider myself to be a rather skilled spell caster, and was hoping to request a position where I can put those skills to good use," I replied, deciding to be honest.

"I see. And why have you chosen our nation?"

Man, these guards are well-trained...they didn't brush me off or turn me away without even hearing me out, and neither did they just let me in...

"Well, to be honest...I want a comfortable life. Of course, it'll be upto those in charge to decide whether or not my skills are good enough," I responded bluntly.

"Huh...your honesty is appreciated. Alright, then, I shall go inform Sir Rai about this, please wait out here in the meantime," Instructed one of the guards after glancing at his partner and they nodded at each other, before he headed into the castle.

I have to say, this nation is pretty amazing...I was stunned when I found out that they're using stored up reserves of Mana like electricity, with cables connected to pretty much every building in the nation.

The way they've evolved is nothing short of incredible...they've basically skipped electricity by using Mana as a substitute, and are progressing at a rapid rate because of that.

Without Azyl Roake, that might end up slowing down or even stalling...so I need to really make a case for myself, I can definitely do this if I play this right.

The doors then opened and the guard who left stepped out, before gesturing to the entrance...

"Sir Rai has agreed to meet with you. Please, right this way," He remarked, gesturing for me to follow him. He then led me through the castle, which was nice and cool, like an air-conditioned building...wow, this is really pleasant, I must get a job here no matter what!

As we arrived at the throne room, the guard opened the doors and entered, I let out a slow exhale to calm myself, before going in after him...

Huh? The throne was unoccupied, covered by a black sheet draped over it. There were two large, fancy chairs on either side of it, Rai Rumel sitting on the one to the right of the throne, and that Jhin guy on the left.

"I have brought him, this is the man who wishes to offer his skills as a spell caster," Said the guard.

"Cool, thanks for bringing him, dude," Grinned Rai with a thumbs up.

"Please act more formally in these settings," Sighed Jhin in exasperation, before turning to the guard, "You may leave and return to your duties, we shall interview this man."

The guard bowed, before leaving the room and shutting the doors as he left, leaving me alone with the two of them...

"It's nice to meet you, my name is Luell Rouge and-," I began to introduce.

"What the heck? That name's so cool!" Exclaimed Rai, interrupting up.

"I do apologize for him," Groaned Jhin, flashing a glare at Rai.

"Hehe, sorry 'bout that. Continue," Replied Rai sheepishly.

"Right, uh...as I was saying, my name is Luell Rouge, a former citizen of Bronztan. I consider myself to be fairly skilled with spell-casting, and with Azyl Roake having been sealed away, I decided to offer my skills and fill that position. Of course, you'll be the judge of whether or not I'm good enough to do so," I remarked politely.

"Cool, cool...yeah, we are struggling to replace him, and a lot of our projects have stalled now too, so we're happy to welcome any talented spell casters. But...we need to know more about you first. We can't just hire anyone who volunteers, you know, especially someone who's not a citizen of Abyss. In other words, we need to know that we can trust you," Stated Rai objectively.

"I learnt how to use Chaos Magic more effectively from Diablo, I could temporarily cast a spell on you that would prevent you from lying," Suggested Jhin.

"Wait...if it's okay with you, I'd like to first explain my situation on my own. Afterwards, if you want to use a spell to verify my claims, then that's fine. Is that okay with you?" I spoke up nervously.

"Hm...very well, I suppose that is fine."

  Okay, here goes...

"For starters, I'm a Reincarnator...and the group of bandits that showed up a few months ago, well...I was kinda, maybe, sorta leading them, but-..."

"Ah, I see," Remarked Jhin, before looking around, "Now, where is my sword...?"

"W-woah, wait, wait, wait, let me explain...!"
