Chapter 276: The Bracelet Out of the Bag IV
Now that the old missus had gotten home, the battle of the house shall commence.
“I need explanations,” uttered the old lady the moment Huo Yunting closed the door, “Why is the bracelet on Lu Zhaoyang? Don’t give me that silly excuse of that bracelet having coincidentally the same design as the one I gave you. I might be old but I’m not blind!”
The words might have been sent fiercely but the grandson was not threatened at all, “Oh, granny. It’s just a bracelet. You don’t have to overreact,” said he as he rested on the chair with his arms over the back. “I used it simply to relieve her relationship with our family. I knew you two had a fight since that incident. Lu Zhaoyang is still a girl and girls sometimes have personalities. What I can do best as her big brother is to comfort her with anything I have. That simple.”
“She’s Madam Xue’s daughter not mine. How can you give such an important thing to a mere outsider? Have you thought of me when you did it? I wanted you to give it to your future wife!” It was the first time the old lady was this stern as she spoke to her grandson. Ever since childhood, she spoiled him rotten that she had never actually said anything harsh to him.
“Tsk, come on. It’s just a bracelet. It’s not like you will lose a granddaughter-in-law if I don’t have the bracelet or something.” The man could not help but smile as he replayed the scene just now in his mind.
Now that’s a loveable wife. So obedient. Never take off the bracelet just because I asked her not to!
I just wanted everyone in this house to know that Huo Chen is not the only person who has a different relationship with Lu Zhaoyang.
“It’s a whole different story when you gave it to her!” The old lady stomped to the bed and crashed onto the mattress, “Go get the bracelet back!”
“No can do, granny. It’s against the Yunting’s policy of gifting-and-no-retrieving. Please, what you should be concerning the most should be her mother’s offspring at the moment, *not* her. Just spare her already, granny.”
“You! Ugh!” The indifference had only reinforced her spite towards Lu Zhaoyang.
What a cunning little brat! I’m very, very impressed! You not only cheated Chen but also managed to make my favorite grandson to give our family heirloom to yourself! It seems like I have underestimated you!
Whatever that happened tonight is not an issue. Lu Zhaoyang, just wait. I’ll give you a proper lesson on propriety. I will not let you have the chance to use Chen and Yunting to manipulate the entire house including myself!
Like mother like her daughter! Both are the witches in the family!
The old lady let off a heavy sigh.
“Granny…please. Sorry for making you this mad. How about I stay for a few days longer here to cheer you up?”
That was the magic line to bring back her smile.
“Okay! I heard it. Now you can’t deny it.”
“Of course, as promised, granny. You must be tired from all the walking today. You should really be sleeping now. Sorry for taking up so much of your time and good night, see you tomorrow.” Huo Yunting patted her hand before leaving the room unhurriedly. He peeked at the door to Lu Zhaoyang’s room tightly shut in oblivion on his way back to his own room.
He could tell that Lu Zhaoyang had fallen asleep by then. And he also could tell that she might not have a good sleep that night.
The night went on peacefully as the family slumbered. The whispering wind, The midnight glow, the faint howl of the snow, the white noise from the heater, the tick-tock of the clock, the ringing of her phone?
Lu Zhaoyang nearly rolled off her bed upon hearing the call. She sat up and looked at her glaring phone as she rubbed her bleary eyes. It was not the Caller ID that drove her mad, it was the time.
IT’S FREAKING 3 A.M. IN THE MORNING! WHAT IN THE WORLD IS SO IMPORTANT THAT IT MUST BE DISCUSSED NOW?
She gasped and declined the call from the devil.
The phone rang again right before she fell asleep.
“UGGGHHH!” She thought of neglecting the call by just turning on her phone’s Do Not Disturb mode but as much as she knew about Huo Yunting, to prevent a window crashing assassination coming from this man, she would be better off taking the call.
“Yes?” She whispered.
“How dare you lock your door? You even locked the balcony too. I almost wanted to crash into your room through the window!”
