Chapter 268: I’m Pregnant
The vibration caused Lu Zhaoyang to flinch and curl up her body. She was astonished while wondering who made the call.
Judging by the time, was it Chen?
“Just a sec, let me have a look.” She rolled off the bed and picked up the glowing phone.
Mommy?
It turned out to be Madam Xue who only contacted her once during her birthday after what happened at the Huo family’s residence.
It was not a red-letter day that night. Perhaps an emergency made her contact her daughter at all costs.
“Mommy, yes? What’s wrong?” She immediately slid through the screen to pick up the call, before being drawn into Huo Yunting’s possessive embrace with his hands dancing over her body.
She tried sounding calm but that attempt was not the reaction the beast wanted as he turned her over and pressed against her.
“Yang! Mommy has great news for you!” It was a lottery-winning tone from Madam Xue in the phone. Before any speculation appeared in Zhaoyang’s mind, the news broke out, “I’m pregnant!”
The news was so earth-shattering that even the beast stopped fondling its prey. He snorted and whispered, “Please.”
“Well, mommy, have a good rest. I’ll see you tomorrow morning.”
I have no idea on what to say but mommy sounds really excited…
“Alright then, sweetie. Do you think if I should inform your brother as well? So he could—you know, tag along…too,” said Madam Xue cautiously. She always watched her words whenever Huo Yunting came into the picture.
“Uhh…” Lu Zhaoyang gave Yunting a quick glance. Although she did not quite catch his expression, she could feel his inner rage burning.
“It’s fine. I’ll tell him tomorrow. I’ll try my best.”
“Alright sweetie, come as soon as possible tomorrow okay? I love you.” The tone went stiffer than a statue.
“I love you too.” Zhaoyang’s tone was flatter than the road.
She hung up and closed her eyes.
Please tell me this is just a bad dream.
If mother is really pregnant, my relationship with Huo Yunting will only get more complicated over time.
She flung her phone back to the drawer next to the bed, “Well, you heard it.” She whispered, “Mother is pregnant.”
The man snorted and collapsed back to his own spot on bed, as he wrapped his arm over her shoulders, “I can’t remember the last time I went for a New Year visit to my own house. Can’t believe that they could fabricate such a fat lie just to make me come home this year. And I thought old dogs can’t learn new tricks.”
“I don’t think it’s a lie. At least mother would not lie to me.”
She was right. Madam Xue might be a Razzie-awarded actress, she could not fake an overjoyed reaction over the phone.
“Well, it’s YOUR mother. Anything could happen,” teased Huo Yunting.
In Huo Yunting’s mind, Madam Xue could probably top Mother Gothel considering how she acted completely muted back when her “beloved” daughter was abused in the Huo family’s residence. She even failed at parenting 101.
She probably aced the class of how to manipulate and use your daughter for your own good 101. She’s the last person I’ll trust on Earth if I was Zhaoyang.
Thought Huo Yunting.
“She’s my own mother—after all…” Nonetheless Lu Zhaoyang was a little disheartened, imagining her own mother making such a sickening joke.
“Are you sure? Maybe you’ll find out you’re from royalty with real loving parents when we traveled to a kingdom somewhere else,” said Huo Yunting half-jokingly and Zhaoyang passed him an undelighted stare. “I mean it, better do a DNA check. Maybe she picked you up from the trash can.”
“Can’t you say something good sometimes? Just say ‘no’ if you aren’t going back. Nobody is forcing you. They don’t have all the rights to criticize you.”
They only have all the rights to criticize me…
