Chapter 213: 213、Defending Her I
“There must be some misunderstanding in this!” Said Madam Xue, trying to look for a sound reason to pass this, though her trembling hands stated otherwise.
“What kind of misunderstanding consists of witnesses and exhibits? Are you telling me that these photos are all forged, that it can’t be your daughter? Are you also telling me that your daughter’s coursemates at the university teamed up to frame her with a fake testimony?” Shouted the old lady, “It’s been years! All these years we have been in the dark. A great scheme—such a great scheme both you and your daughter plotted! Do you two plan to destroy our family?”
“I-I’ll call her right now!” Madam Xue clumsily got up from the sofa. Those accusations hurt her every bit. The documents fell onto the floor as her knees knocked the ceramic table.
She still could not believe the things her daughter had done.
Huo Zhenning took a careful look at the papers again, only to be further enraged, “Shan, you mean, Yunting actually knows all these?”
“I guess so…” Mo Shan gave a safe reply with a shocked expression to take her further away from the frontline.
“Get me the phone!” Screamed the old lady, “BRING it to me NOW!”
The living room was dead silent as the maid hurried her way to get the old mistress the phone.
The old lady tried catching her frantic breath.
I could not believe my ears! I could not believe my eyes! I would be fine if Chen dated other girls since he is 29 after all. He should be running his own home now! But, of all women in this world, he picked his nominal niece?
Has our family gotten not messed up enough already?
Meanwhile, it was the sixth time Huo Yunting’s mobile phone rang in his bedroom. The moment he stepped into his bedroom, the phone vibrated again in his pocket.
He had seen the number before. It was from his family—to be ignored anyway.
He slid it back into his pants, feeling slightly foreign of the missing someone in his room.
The phone was vibrating as he sat on his bed.
Wait a second, it’s almost 12. Did my family discover something?
He then took the phone out of his pocket and picked up the call.
“Yunting!” It was a piercing scream.
“Granny, hello. It’s kind of surprising to receive your call at this time of the day—You know, sleep is important for ladies like you.” He tried sidetracking. Judging from her terrifying tone, she must have seen something.
“Do you know anything about Chen and Lu Zhaoyang? Do you know about their relationship all along? Why did you never tell me about them? You even let them run elsewhere!” The old lady panted.
This is infuriating! Chen, how could you do this to your own niece?
Huo Yunting’s eyes squinted. His lips mimicked a soundless “Okay, looks like they found it.”
But wait, how did they know it?
“Well, granny. Lu Zhaoyang has gone outstation and—Chen is at the military now—if I remember correctly?” Huo Yunting headed to the living room and went to reach for a bottle of wine and a glass.
“Stop fooling around, Yunting! They had already known each other a long time ago! They were even lovers! And they are now both in another country! Outstation? Please, Yunting, don’t tell me you never suspected when your secretary had gone outstation for so long!” The nonchalance in Yunting’s tone nearly drove the old lady mad.
“Well, granny, calm down. People have rights to date whoever they want, especially when it happened before that woman became the late daughter-in-law of yours. Therefore, if it wasn’t that complicated relationship now, it’s nothing immoral, right?”
