Chapter 150: Shocked! Overjoyed! Upset… XII
“No problem, sir.”
The glasses chimed as she poured the whole glass of Whiskey into her mouth. With her cheeks tinted by faint scarlet, she forced a smile as she began breaking the ice for them. From time to time, she would chuckle at the most mundane moment in the conversation while splashing another glass of wine upon her palate. Her jaws were shivering after a few glasses, as alcohol was not doing anything other than amplifying the pain in her. The more drunk she got, the more her feelings got sealed deeper in her heart.
Huo Chen was at a few tables away from her, yet occasionally, when he looked away to ponder responses for the questions he received from guests, he would take a glance at her. Her action was justifiable in Huo Chen’s eyes. She was sociable after all, at least among these elites, and only natural if one of them happened to be her boss.
Huo Chen would love to have a few drinks with her but she would only obtain unwanted attention if he walked to her directly at the moment. People would be wondering about their relationship.
He missed her often. He missed her a lot, but he could do nothing till the party ended.
Meanwhile, Huo Yunting was doing his job as a celeb, to be surrounded and offered fancy dishes in one toast after another. His expressive eyes glided upon Lu and Huo Chen as his signature smile intensified. He noticed something, of course. He would be an idiot if he did not see how Lu was cutting off contact completely and maintaining a ridiculous amount of distance from Chen.
She looked drunk too. I must say she seemed a bit charming with the reddish tone on her face.
“President Huo! Qingshan is a great place!”
“Mhmm…yeah…” Replied Huo casually as he clinked glasses with the person.
“Yunting! Darling! I’m here!” That was also when Snow White joined the scene.
“Alright, President Huo. I can’t be the third wheel here. Talk to you soon!” The guest walked away after bidding a quick farewell.
“I’m pleased to hear that your uncle is alive!” Said Mo Shan joyfully as she clinked glasses with Huo too.
She might have not been in this country for long, but she did remember the brotherhood between Huo Yunting and Huo Chen. It would be only logical for Huo Yunting to be glad of his uncle’s survival.
“Right. At least I did not waste my time here tonight,” replied Huo Yunting, sipping his wine while passing her a glance, “Is Mr. Mo no longer mad with me that he actually allows you to see me now?”
“Well, I was never mad. So, no way he should be. As long as Brother Yunting knows me best.”
The truth was, her father was still very unhappy with him or she would have come to her Yunting much earlier.
She intended to do a hit-and-run with Huo Yunting.
Just a quick chat…
On second thought, she felt alert since Lu was at the party too.
They shouldn’t have anything up their sleeves. Hopefully, this is their own mansion after all…
“Of course, brother knows best. Everybody knows best about you and Lin Jingzhi.”
“Yunting!” Mo Shan’s smile froze as she clarified hurriedly, “How can you still say that! You know well that it’s just a cover story fabricated by the paparazzi. Remember they also said that we are engaged too, you believe that?”
“When?” Huo Yunting placed down the glass and gestured the waiter to fill it with whiskey this time.
He felt the scent and licked it. He stormed away from the scene before Mo Shan could answer the question.
Mo Shan turned to his direction, only to be horrified—he was heading towards Lu!
The moment she adjusted her handbag, ready to sprint in her Victoria’s Secret heels, Mo Yuan showed up and held her back.
“Daddy…”
“It’s late. We are heading home,” said Mo Yuan sternly.
Mo Shan backed away, tilted her head to have a look at Huo Yunting who apparently did not go after Lu in the end. Instead, he spoke to a person standing by a transparent round table a meter before her.
No matter when I see him, he’s always this nonchalant, as if nothing matters in this world to him.
Was that his camouflage or was that how he always is?
